We don't often see #art or #illustration of #solarpunk #infrastructure - and it's not an easy thing to convey.

Scandinavian101 decided to explore some #solarFarm #desert panoramas, building something close to #simonStalenhag 's juxtaposition of huge and personal, mundane and special.

Solar Rights Group:

"

Governor Newsom’s CPUC has proposed to break the state’s contract with nearly two million solar customers, slash their solar credit, and slap them with a solar tax.

A former SoCal Edison lobbyist, Assemblymember Lisa Calderon, has filed a bill to make this proposal law (AB 942).

These changes would apply to ALL solar customers who signed up for solar before April 2023 (NEM1 and NEM2).

AB 942 is scheduled for a hearing on April 30th. There is talk of tweaking the bill so lawmakers can break solar contracts while selling it as a “compromise.” Don’t let them get away with it."

Kenya boosts electricity access from 37% to 79% between 2013 and 2023.

Access has more than doubled in ten years, with urban areas reaching 100% coverage and nine million rural residents gaining connections.

One in five Kenyan households now uses off-grid solar systems, and renewable sources including geothermal, hydro, wind, and solar generate 90% of Kenya's electricity, positioning the nation to achieve universal access by 2030. #Kenya #Africa #electricity #renewables #solar #environment

Energy Monitor · Kenya nears universal electricity access by 2030, IEA report saysBy Tiash saha

Clean power surpasses 40% of global electricity for first time since 1940s.

Clean electricity reached a historic 40.9% of global power in 2024, driven by record renewables growth, with solar and wind together exceeding hydropower for the first time.

Solar is leading the charge (now doubling every three years) and 80 countries now generate over half their electricity from clean sources. #climate #renewables #solar #wind #environment #energy

EmberGlobal Electricity Review 2025 | EmberRecord renewables growth led by solar helped push clean power past 40% of global electricity in 2024, but heatwave-related demand spikes led to a small increase in fossil generation.

💁🏻‍♀️ ICYMI: 🌱🏙️ Instead of another dystopian future, this TED-Ed #animation shows an optimistic vision of 2125. It imagines cities where public transit and urban farms replace highways, mangroves protect restored coastlines, and mushrooms clean polluted soil.

Based on the "solarpunk" movement, it demonstrates how existing technologies in #LosAngeles, #Lagos, and #SãoPaulo could create sustainable urban environments where #nature, #technology, and humans thrive together.
