Today In Labor History March 26, 1918: American anarchist Philip Grosser wrote about being tortured in the prison on Alcatraz Island, while serving time there for refusing to serve in World War I. By 1920, he was the only draft resistor still serving time at Alcatraz. Alexander Berkman referred to him as "one of [my] finest comrades."

Some more history. An archival wartime video introducing the Martin Mars to the world! The 1945 video features the first Hawaii Mars which was lost to a fire not long after this video was shot! Philippine was built 2nd and in service right after.

This is Philippine being built in Summer 1945. She will be 80 years old this year!!
She was the 2nd production Mars and first to serve in the USN.
Those in California/USA should know, the aircraft is owned by Coulson Aviation. Flying C130, 737 and Chinooks in the #californiawildfires
