Given most of the time I spend on sewing machines usually is trying to thread the needle, light would be helpful, LOL. AI6YR BenCurrent Singer 201 restoration. Singer is now running after lubrication (video to follow). Still removing dust dirt and grime, it seems like it has a layer of dried oil on the outside that is flaking off. MimHere's the dress, as I've been boring you for weeks. It it did *not* look like arse, aside from the bustle, which was a whole truckload of arse... I now have cotton voile for the petticoat I don't necessarily super need but want to make, some extremely nice fine white linen for a blouse (ditto), the terrible print fabric that is probably going to become a shirt of some description eventually... And some lining for a hat. Only the hat is something I could just start making, without thinking too much, everything else requires plans, design and/or maths. Chris 🏳️‍🌈🧵🧝🏼Putting in welted pockets on suede is… different. Unlike with most leather, you can’t use a hammer to set the seam when turned as it’ll crush the nap. So it’s all just finger pressed. If this were wool, I’d be horrified at the smooshey corners. It's a free pattern, super simple, basically just one big front piece and one big back piece sewn together but plenty of sewalongs available in case of confusion. It taught me what a facing is, and it has pockets! AI6YR BenOkay, additional tool acquired for furniture reupholstery project. Singer 201 sewing machine. Runs, but needs to be oiled. Apparently it was working but now not moving correctly... clearly a lubrication issue. Will appy teak oil to the furniture part while waiting for sewing machine oil to arrive.
