Had a rare date with the wifey last night, dinner at Loro and then hearing the brilliant cellist Zoe Keating at the 04 Center in south Austin. The 04 is truly an excellent sounding venue, and Zoe sounded equally excellent, using a live looping system to multiply her cello. My old string quartet Invert shared the bill with her a number of times - crazy that was 20 years ago now, it was great seeing her again. #music #cello #zoekeating #looping #austin #atx #newmusic

@fkamiah17 The UT situation is entirely the Governor's doing. It wasn't university police or the Austin PD that were sent in to riot - it was specifically state police not under local control. The local prosecutor isn't pressing charges against those arrested because the only law the students broke was making DPS sad and that's not officially a crime. People will note there were comparable protests at UTSA (San Antonio, ~80 miles south of Austin) but DPS wasn't sent to beat them up. This is yet more performative brutality specifically against Austin; watching the "liberals" get clubbed is red meat to the ruling junta. The Governor isn't well-liked here in the state capitol so the state legislature and Governor never miss an opportunity to screw with us - overturning local laws, etc. It's childish but par for the course for these assholes. #ATX
